I Can Also Help With
Hi! I’m Dr Valérie English and I’m a graduate of the University of Montréal, in the adult Clinical Psychology program. I offer psychodynamic psychotherapy and humanistic therapy. I specialize in helping clients overcome depression, anxiety disorders, interpersonal struggles, traumatic childhood experiences, self-esteem, and personal growth.
I also specialize in issues related to pregnancy and obstetrics, such as helping pregnant mothers and new moms, overcome things like anxiety, depression, marital problems, pregnancy ambivalence, attachment issues, grief and loss, trouble conceiving, miscarriage, abortion, and grieving men.
Finally, I also specialize in helping medical patients overcome difficulties related to traumatic events, serious injuries, or illnesses such as cancer.
My approach to therapy is integrative, in the sense that I incorporate approaches from several scientifically validated therapies, according to the client’s needs. My main objective in therapy is to work collaboratively with you, identify your struggles and objectives, and to find with you – through discussion – solutions that will fit with your personality and values. It’s important to me that I cultivate an open therapeutic atmosphere that is warm and free of judgment, where you feel safe to explore topics that are important to you, so you can get to know yourself better and work through struggles. It would be a pleasure for me to meet you, to get to know your unique situation, and to help you on your path to greater psychological well-being.

Success Stories
"I originally came to get help with insomnia and coping with stress at work. But rather than address the symptoms Valerie went out of her way to tackle the root issues. She showed incredible patience with me as we worked through layers of issues and problems to reach closer to the core of my problems than any other therapist has been able to do. Ultimately Valerie was more helpful in a very difficult time in my life than I can adequately put into words. She helped me find the language I needed to better understand what I was going through and process it.
Blake Psychology as a whole has been very accommodating. As someone who is not bilingual and only speaks English getting therapy in Montreal was very intimidating and it took me some time to find a therapist who I am able to easily communicate with, which was appreciated. I recommended Blake Psychology to my coworkers and I would happily recommend it to anyone else. They are incredibly accommodating and very helpful.
Thank you again for everything you've done. You've better armed me for managing myself going forward."
