Licensed Psychologist with the Order of Psychologists of Quebec OPQ# 12480-14
Hello there! My name is Melissa and I invite you to learn a little about my background and therapeutic approach as you decide on who might be the best fit for you or your family on the journey towards change. I am a clinical psychologist with a broad skillset and background working with adults as well as preschoolers, children, teens and their families.
I believe that self-understanding, change, and progress flourishes best within an open, collaborative, and safe non-judgmental space. That means I will work with you to identify your needs, what changes you want to work towards, explore new ways of thinking and deriving meaning from experience, and importantly, develop new skills or ways of addressing life’s difficulties and relating to internal experiences. No challenge, individual, or life situation is the same, and so therapy is always tailored to the specific needs of my clients – it is client-centred.
Informing this approach is my diverse background, which includes experience working and training in hospital, university, school, and private settings, including the Douglas University Mental Health Institute, the Montreal Children’s Hospital, the Toronto Sick Kids Hospital, and the Manitoba Adolescent Treatment Centre. I have had the privilege to work alongside individuals and families to address concerns such as depression, anxiety, perfectionism, stress, adjusting to life transitions, managing intense emotions, behavioural difficulties, and challenges that can present in parenting. I flexibly draw on scientifically supported treatment approaches, such as Cognitive-Behavioural therapy, Acceptance and Commitment therapy, and Mindfulness-based techniques to support client needs. If you think I might be the right therapist for you, it would be an honour to work alongside you as you move towards your goals!
