Psychologist

Licensed Psychologist with the Order of Psychologists of Quebec, OPQ #: 11067-08

Hello, my name is Lisa-Marie Sauvé and I am a clinical psychologist on the Blake Psychology team.

After a few years of studying health sciences and pre-med at McGill University, I pivoted to psychology, specifically with children and adolescents. I’ve always had a passion for connecting with and helping people. I completed my Bachelor of Science at McGill University and undertook a Master’s in School/Applied Child Psychology.

Having obtained doctoral education and a psychologist’s license in 2007, I decided to start practicing, initially, as a school psychologist in the largest French-language school board in Quebec. After 4 years in school psychology, I developed a strong interest in psychotherapy with children, adolescents, and families.

I started in private practice in several clinics in Montreal and the surrounding area. It was by joining a clinic offering specific therapy services using 3rd wave cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) that I decided to expand my services to older teens and adults. I now see a very diverse clientele, as it fascinates me to be able to understand and treat individuals throughout their lives, young or more mature, to help them improve their mental health.

Due to my academic and professional background, I still have a great interest in psychometrics, attention deficit with/without hyperactivity (ADHD), and other learning disabilities. I have also worked in research with individuals who are on the Autism Spectrum. I currently treat people suffering from anxiety, depression, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and attention deficit disorder with/without hyperactivity.

I also help people suffering from adjustment disorders, burnout, or going through life transitions such as bereavement or separation/divorce. Although my main approach is CBT, I am very eclectic in my interventions, because in my opinion, all schools of thought in psychology have a particular contribution that can be useful with some clients.

I am currently pursuing a Clinical Doctorate (D. Ps.) at the Université de Sherbrooke and I am interested in how psychologists can improve evidence-based practice in their everyday work. In my opinion, therapy is an incredible journey inside oneself performed with the help of a guide. If you are ready, I will gladly guide you in this adventure!
