Biography

Relationships can be difficult, especially those within ourselves.

Hello! My name is Jodie Thompson.  I am a licensed clinical Psychotherapist with a permit from the Order of Psychologists of Quebec, and a Couple and Family Therapist who graduated from McGill University. Over the past 15 + years I have had the opportunity to work with multicultural and remote communities with people ages 5 and older.

I have developed my skills to be collaborative, and as a result, joining and connecting with people have become my specialty. I have supported people through a variety of transitions such as relational issues, depression, anxiety disorders, fertility issues, crisis situations, trauma, mood disorders, and simply trying to work out life’s many trials and tribulations.

I use evidenced based approaches, and have been trained in Systemic, Humanistic, Psychodynamic, and Attachment-Based Psychotherapy. In addition, I have training in Cognitive Behavioural Family Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy, with techniques from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Mindfulness.

My passion is working with people who are seeking to understand themselves, and in the case of couple and family therapy, additionally understanding others who they are surrounded by. This passion has taken the form of interpersonal understanding and identity, and most of all, understanding the conscious and unconscious patterns, which can lead to feeling stuck, and getting trapped in patterns that we have become accustomed to, rather than choices to be proud of.
